Introduction:
In a world where marriage is often misunderstood, undervalued, and even mocked, we must come back to God’s definition.
Psalm 118 tells us,
“This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.”
Marriage is not merely a social contract or a romantic idea—it is God’s doing. And because it is His doing, it is marvelous!
Let’s explore three simple but profound truths about marriage that apply to this couple and to all of us.
1. Marriage is God’s Work.
1. Marriage is God’s Work.
👉 Key Verse: John 1:3 – “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
Marriage is not man's invention; it is God’s creation.
It was God who said in Genesis 2:18, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
God designed the first wedding.
He Himself brought Eve to Adam—no wedding planner needed!
He declared, “The two shall become one flesh.”
👉 Warren Wiersbe wisely said,
“Marriage is a divine institution, not a human experiment.”
Yet today, many treat marriage like a DIY project—“Do it your way, fix it when it breaks.” But we must treat it with reverence. Hebrews 13:4 reminds us:
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure.”
Someone once joked, “Marriage is like a walk in the park... Jurassic Park!” 😄
But the truth is, when we honor God’s work in marriage, it becomes a garden of blessing, not a jungle of confusion.
we should See marriage as God’s handiwork and Treat it with respect and sacredness.
2. Marriage is God’s Mystery.
2. Marriage is God’s Mystery.
👉 Key Verse: Ephesians 5:32 – “This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.”
many have this opinion that marriage is mystery so they avoid marriage. but it is not like that. it has a profound mystery god hidden in it and paul showed it to us.
Marriage is a mystery—full of depth, discovery, and yes, surprises!
From the beginning, God designed marriage to reflect the relationship between Christ and the church.
It is a picture of unseen spiritual truths woven into daily life.
but now the mystery is open and it is family represents christ and church and in family husband should love as christ loved and wife should submit as church submit to Lord. when there is love, there will be forgiveness, patience and care and a great and strong relation is built.
3. Marriage is God’s Miracle
3. Marriage is God’s Miracle
marriage is miracle also. some one said, may miracles happen after marrige, mad begins to cook and many others. but the real miracle happens in marriage is “two becoming one”. and that happens because of christ between them.
Think about Jesus’ first miracle—where did it happen? At a wedding in Cana (John 2:1–11). When they ran out of wine, Jesus filled their lack and brought joy. This teaches us that God delights to do miracles in marriages.
Indeed, part of the mystery is that husbands and wives grow together, explore each other’s hearts, and learn to love deeply.
Keep Jesus at the center, and He’ll turn water into wine!
4. Marriage is God’s Gift of Happiness.
4. Marriage is God’s Gift of Happiness.
in v24, we see that it is happiness;
Marriage is meant to bring joy and fulfillment. Yes, there are challenges, but the goal is happiness rooted in God. when christ is in our boat we will never sink.
But remember: earthly marriage is a shadow. The ultimate happiness is in the marriage of the Lamb! Revelation 19:9 says:
“Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb!”
We enjoy happiness now, but we await perfect joy when Christ, the Bridegroom, comes for His church. Remember, God’s happiness is both now and forever.
